Stumbled across your blog. I’m a recovered alcoholic. My children are 6 and 8. My heart was breaking thinking about you and your sister at Christmas. Your story is powerful and beautifully written. I believe it can help others to pray for the daily reprieve from alcoholism. The image of you and your sister in the hospital is haunting. It reminds me where this disease can take you, and the pain that I hope I never bring to my precious children. Keep telling your story!

First, thank you so much for reading and for the wonderful compliment; your comment truly made my night, and I couldn’t wait to get home to respond. At times, I wonder if people will stop reading my blog because it can come across as negative. But after 32 years of hardship and living, I feel like it’s finally time for my story to be told and heard in its truthful entirety. I have received tremendous following from many people struggling with alcoholism, drug abuse, and depression; if I can help just one person through my father’s tale, I will be grateful. And then I realized that I have helped someone: me. By putting my words on virtual paper, I have begun to rediscover myself and what I want in this precious life. Despite my father’s tragedy, I consider myself very blessed.
Richest blessings to you and your family. Thank you for your courage to not only speak out here but also for finding the strength to overcome the horrible disease of alcoholism. Cherish your children and the time you have with them.
